“The man has the incredible gift of song,” said Stephanie Lynn. “His words helped mold the ‘Stephanie Lynn sound.’ Not only that he’s my friend and that’s what friends do.”
San Antonio, TX — The world premiere of “Lola,” the debut single from up and coming Conjunto accordionist Brenda Martinez will hit the airwaves on Monday, November 11 at 8pm on KEDA radio with host Mark Weber.
This is the very first recording for Martinez, who is a native of San Antonio’s west side and is one of the tracks off of her full-length album “Favoritas De Mis Padres,” due out in mid-December on Rancho Alegre Records.

KEDA broadcasts 24 hours a day in the San Antonio area on 99.9FM and 1540AMand worldwide on kedaradio.comand their mobile app.
“Lola” will be available on all digital outlets on Tuesday, November 12 and “Favoritas De Mis Padres” will be available on digital, CD and vinyl formats by mid-December. For more information and updates, follow Brenda Martinez and Rancho Alegre on various social media platforms.

VMB Music Group released the cover art for “Ay Amor” on Wednesday, the lead single for La Tropa F from their upcoming album “Preservando Nuestra Cultura.”
Tejano Nation caught up with the award-winning band at the Tejano Unites For Cancer Benefit last month and Jesse Farias Jr. shared details on the upcoming album scheduled for release in early 2020.
“The name of the CD is called ‘La Tropa F – Preservando Nuestra Cultura’,” he said. “Preserving our culture, basically. We took it back, did a lot of old school stuff, kind of keep Tejano and our sound going with the new generation.”
“Ay Amor” will be available at all digital music platforms on Nov. 22 and is hardcore Tejano, according to Farias.
La Tropa F wants to instill Tejano culture into the next generation of Tejanos.
“Keep your kids involved, this is our heritage, this is our culture, this where we grew up at, Conjunto, Tejano music,” Farias said. “It’s good to keep the kids involved because they are the future, they are the next generation. That’s what it is, that’s what we’re trying to do, just keep everybody involved.”
Ilyssa is ready to make a comeback to the Tejano music scene with a new album and the singer released her latest single, “¿Qué Hago?”, for radio airplay on Wednesday.
The track was produced by Severo “Sevy” Contreras and is the third single from Ilyssa’s highly-anticipated new album.
“I’m excited about all the different songs we’re putting on the CD because it’s kind of like a journey of basically what I’ve been through for the past year,” Ilyssa told Tejano Nationin a recent interview. “I’m getting to be really involved with Slack Monster Studios and involved with picking the songs and I love working with Sevy, Severo Contreras, and he’s taken a lot of my ideas into consideration. So that’s what I’m excited about for this CD, is a lot of me has gone into it.”
Ilyssa made a splash in the Tejano music scene in 2010 with her debut album Estoy Contigo, which spawned a couple of hit singles, including the title track and “Te Amo.” The album’s success garnered her a nomination as Best New Female Artist at the 2011 Tejano Music Awards.
The singer took a short break from singing in order to pursue her college degree from the University of Texas-Pan American, followed by a career in teaching.
“¿Qué Hago?” will be available soon at all digital music platforms, but you can get a first listen on the new track below.
Elida Reyna Y Avante add another accolade to their resume winning a Latin GRAMMY for Best Tejano Album with ‘Colores’ on Thursday in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The award was handed out during the Latin GRAMMYs Premiere show, a live online broadcast before the televised broadcast on Univision.
Reyna accepted the group’s second Latin GRAMMY award thanking the Latin Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (LARAS), record label Freddie Records, manager Adrian Gallegos, and publicist Norma Duran. She also thanked her fans and her husband of eight years and Avante bandleader Lalo Reyna III.
“You have always supported us during 25 years of experience in music,” Elida said during her speech. “We want to thank you for always believing in us and once again for the fans who have supported us.”
This is the second Latin GRAMMY win for Elida Reyna Y Avante. The group won Best Tejano Album for their album “Fantasia” in 2010.
Austin-based Tejanomusic artist Mia released her much-anticipated-winter single, “Bidi Bidi Bom Bom” on Nov. 15.
The track pays tribute to the wildly popular and beloved original recorded by the late Selena Quintanilla-Perez while adding Mia’s own signature sound and voice.
Inspired by Selena’s bandmate and sister Suzette Quintanilla’s spoken liner notes for Selena’s “Amor Prohibido” album, Mia’s updated interpretation retains the fun, bubbly, and catchy nature of Selena’s original recording that continues to appeal to listeners of all ages 25 years after it first hit the airwaves.
Mia’s reboot of “Bidi Bidi Bom Bom” was produced by her manager and father Chris Garcia of AIM Records and co-produced by three-time Grammy Award winner Sunny Sauceda of Solstice Records. The vocals were directed and recorded with David L. Garza at 180 Studios in Schertz, Texas, and the production was mixed and mastered by two-time Grammy Award winner Tony Gonzalez. Coincidentally, Gonzalez worked with Selena and was also present in the studio when she recorded the original version of the song. Studio musicians included Diego Garcia of Pete Astudillo & Tekno Mex on guitar and 14-year-old Edwardo Perez Jr. on accordion.
Latin Grammy Award winner James Galvez, who was instrumental in establishing Mia’s original sound, says “Mia is an incredibly talented young lady. Not only can she deliver an amazing performance on her own original music material; she does an incredible job interpreting and performing ‘Bidi Bidi Bom Bom’ by the one and only Selena! I am very proud of Mia, and I am very impressed with her diverse skills and talent. The production value applied to Mia’s new video is awesome! Congratulations to Mia and everyone involved on this project! Very impressive!”
Remaking a classic recording by an icon like Selena is a daunting task, and the team took special care to ensure that it was done respectfully and correctly. Garcia made sure to get the blessing of Selena’s father Abraham Quintanilla and to secure the proper licensing for the project through Warner Chappell Music.
A fun-filled music video accompanies the single release of “Bidi Bidi Bom Bom.” Filmed and edited Ryan Bazan and produced by Chris and Yuli Garcia the video was filmed in Pflugerville and San Antonio with kids and teens from all over Central Texas. The visual includes scenes and imagery honoring Selena’s memory, like Alan Calvo’s Selena mural, and employs the same kind of upbeat and positive energy that was one of the most endearing qualities of the late singer. Also featured in the video is the recently-released Perez Pepper Sauce, a brand new hot sauce from Selena’s widower Chris Perez.
Mia, who earned international recognition for winning the Tejano Music Award in the Best New Artist – Female category in 2018, is currently working on recording the lead single from her forthcoming sophomore album, which will be produced by Latin Grammy Award winner Lorenzo “Papo” Banda and Chris Garcia. Her album will be mixed and mastered by Tony Gonzalez, along with guest artists and a seasoned, award-winning production team. Mia will also be a presenter at this year’s 39th Annual Tejano Music Awards.
For more information about Mia, visit miamusictx.com and follow her adventures, including her hobbies like karate, gymnastics and horseback riding, in addition to being an aspiring musician.
