The classic song “Las Nubes” from Little Joe Y La Familia is considered by many as the Chicano national anthem and it recently received a mariachi makeover from Little Joe and former “La Reina de la Cancion” contestant Olivia Calderon with a song and music video release.

Little Joe posted the music video his official Facebook page on September 7 with the caption, “Here’s the Las Nubes (mariachi) music video Olivia and I did for you all. I hope you enjoy it!”

Calderon, who is a mariachi singer from Arizona and was a contestant on “La Reina de la Cancion” in 2017, re-recorded the iconic tune earlier this year and released it as a single on August 16.

“So excited to finally have ‘Las Nubes’ released with Little Joe,” Calderon posted on her official Facebook page. “It was a pleasure, honor and a dream come true to work with him.”

TV series based on controversial book about Selena to premiere on Sept. 23

A series on the life and death of the ‘Queen of Cumbia,’ Selena Quintanilla is set to air on TNT América Latina in Mexico.

The network announced ‘El Secreto de Selena‘ (Selena’s Secret) will air 13-episodes and promises to give viewers a “side of the story never previously told,” according to Billboard.

Selena is portrayed by Maya Zapata, best known for her role in 2008’s Bordertown with Martin Sheen, Antonio Banderas and Jennifer Lopez, who rocketed to fame as Selena in the original 1997 biopic. Yolanda Saldívar is played by film and television actress Damayanti Quintanar. Both are of Mexican decent.

Actress Sofía Lama, who plays María Celeste Arrarás, a journalist and TV personality of ‘Al Rojo Vivo‘ on Telemundo is seen briefly in the trailer. The 1997 book Selena’s Secret: The Revealing Story Behind Her Tragic Death (in Spanish, El Secreto De Selena: La Reveladora Historia Detrás De Su Trágica Muerte) is written by the real-life Arrarás, for which the series is based from.

The book has been criticized by the Quintanilla family. Selena’s sister Suzette Quintanilla posted a video on Instagram in 2017 saying the “book is based on a whole bunch of lies.”

RELATED: Suzette Quintanilla sounds off on planned TV series of ‘Selena’s Secret’ book [VIDEO]

Abraham Quintanilla, Selena’s father, blasted the book and series in a Facebook post on Wednesday, “Maria Celeste’s Series are all LIES, in fact she never even interviewed Selena when she was alive. Instead went to the prison and interviewed the Killer to write the book. The title of the book was the hook to sell the stupid book.”

On March 31, 1995, 23 year-old Selena was gunned down by her fan club president Yolanda Saldívar, outside of a Days Inn Hotel in Corpus Christi, Texas. Two years later, the multi-award winning film Selena was released and became a huge hit.

El Secreto de Selena‘ (Selena’s Secret) will debut on TNT América Latina, Sunday, September 23.

In January, ABC committed to a pilot for a series inspired by the musical legacy of Selena Quintanilla. Selena’s siblings, Abraham Quintanilla Jr. and Suzette Quintanilla Arriaga, will produce that series.

Intocable release impactful video for ‘Me Dueles’

Vevo | IntocableTV

Intocable released the official music video for their latest single, “Me Dueles,” on Tuesday (Sept. 18).

The visual showcases a typical love story script with a focus on more humanitarian issues and events happening around the world and within our society.

The song, written by talented singer and songwriter Joss Favela, narrates the story about a person, presumably, who loves another so hard it hurts, the video, however, has a twist.

Ricky Muñoz told Latin Gossip the concept behind the video came to him as he was watching videos from the 80′s, he became inspired to do something unexpected with the story-line.

“At first it is the typical story, a guy hurting because of love,” he said. “Then I came up with this concept. Why can’t we make this video? Yeah, that’s what you’d expect, ‘you’re leaving me, you hurt me,’ let’s make this song about the world telling humans, ‘me dueles.’ It’s really the world, el universo, cantándole a la humanidad.”

Scenes of the video show images of natural disasters, immigration issues, the 43 missing students from Ayotzinapa, communities coming together to help one another, among other things.

At the end of the day, the video remains one about “amor and desamor”, with humanity, our environment, and among ourselves.
