Lucky Joe takes fans on a journey behind the music in the documentary “The Experience – Detras de la Musica,” released on Saturday (Dec. 10).

“This documentary was developed to story-tell a side of me that you’ve never before seen,” Lucky Joe said. “Away from the lights and stage, the motive was to share with you a side of myself that shows the inner truth, realness, and dedication to succeed, which is something that we all have.”

The short film, produced by One Morin Media, showcases the star’s musical roots from Elsa, Texas, to life on the road.

“Ever since I picked up an accordion, I would always say to myself that I was going to be a star one day and have the whole world singing along to my music,” added Lucky Joe. “Til this day, I recall clearly my grandmother telling me, ‘Declaralo con la boca y asi sera mijo’, and it always gives me clarity and strength to keep doing what I love and creating music.”

Fans will enjoy the musical journey of the 2014 Tejano Music Awards Best New Male Artist winner, who has spent over 20 years in the music industry.

“When we initially set out on our first days of filming, the goal was to produce a small caliber film that was simple, but yet create a diverse and dignified story that would give Lucky Joe’s fans something to love,” said film director Juan Morin. “I’m so humbled to have had the honor of working with such a talented, charismatic, and genuine human being. His story will definitely touch your heart.”

Lucky Joe will release his third album, El Triunfador, on Friday, December 16.  The album will contain 12 new songs, including the latest release featuring Johnny Lee Rosas of Masizzo, “De Qué Me Sirves Ya,” and “Pierdete,” the Spanish remake of pop star Justin Bieber’s “Love Yourself.”

This is the first single from an upcoming holiday album project that AJ is working on for release in December 2017.

“I never planned to release or even finish it,” AJ said about the holiday tune. “But everyday my mom would call me and ask, ‘Have you recorded that Christmas song yet?’…’Come on Mijo, people are waiting…’ and I would tell her, ‘What people?’ No one has ever heard this or knows I’ve recorded Christmas Music.’ So after a few weeks of telling her I’m working on it, I finally recorded it and we finished it up on the bus ride home from Pheonix Sunday night.”

The song was recorded at Castillo’s studio in Austin, Texas, and was mixed and mastered by Grammy Award-winning engineer Anthony Perez, with instrumentation from Mario Ortiz, producer of The Jay Perez Band.

AJ Castillo plans to end 2016 with a New Year’s Eve performance at Casino Del Sol in Tucson, Arizona on December 31 with La Tropa F and Ruben Ramos.

Mariah Carey’s iconic holiday tune, “All I Want For Christmas Is You,” received a Spanglish remix courtesy of Victoria “La Mala” Ortiz.  The first Regional Mexican artist for the Roc Nation record label puts her own stamp on this Christmas classic.

When you think of traditional Mexican music, you don’t think of a saucy, sexy powerhouse Latina diva with a hip-hop swagger and a whole lot of heart. However, Victoria “La Mala” Ortiz is about to change that perception for good. The singer and songwriter transforms the Banda genre with her impressive vocal range, striking style, and urban savvy. She describes this enigmatic musical hybrid best.

“If 2Pac and Selena had a child, it would be me,” the singer declares with a grin. “I have old school influences with a new spirit.”

What do you think of her Spanglish remix? Let us know in the comments below.

Ray Ray de los Agues has released his new single, “Perdoname,” a cover of the 1992 hit from Pete Astudillo.

“I have always loved this song and knew I would cover it one day,” Ray Ray told Tejano Nation. “I hope you all enjoy it.”

The track, written by Astudillo and A.B. Quintanilla, is from Ray Ray’s upcoming sophomore album Fui Yo, expected to be released in March 2017. It’s the follow-up to his solo debut album No Se Como Fue, dedicated to his father Humberto Quintanilla Garcia.

The singer, who made an appearance in the Selena movie with Los Agues as “Grupo Fuego”, is working on an upcoming film.

“It’s called Margarita Man,” he said. “It’s directed by Danny Ramos, he wants to (show) the culture of San Antonio. It’s going to be us, Grupo Respeto and Grupo Cielo that’s going to be making an appearance in the movie.”

Growing up in the talented musical family, Los Agues, meant that Ray Ray was always surrounded by music. Los Agues were a romantic trio made up of a father and his five sons. Their unique and hypnotic style earned them many awards including Pura Vida Awards for “Best Trio” in 1994 and 1995, and nominations such as Tejano Music Award’s “Most Promising Band” in 1994 and “Best Video” in 1996. They toured extensively throughout Miami in 1996 and Mexico in 1998. “Ven a Mi” was a No. 1 hit in the 90’s and was written by Ray Ray.

The up tempo cumbia with a catchy chorus was handpicked for Romero by Guerrero, it was originally released by Argentine singer Karla.

“I really love this song and the lyrics are great for us women who have had this happen to them before,” said Romero, a nominee for Female Vocalist of the Year at the 2016 Tejano Music Awards. “It’s a way to have fun and laugh when you’ve been in that situation before. It’s also just a fun cumbia to dance and sing along to.”

The award winning singer from Santa Fe, New Mexico, has released nine albums, including her latest Gracias Senor, titled after the included duet with two-time Grammy Award winner Ruben Ramos, “El Gato Negro.”

Romero’s career began when she was a child watching her father’s band perform and she was determined to somehow get on the stage to perform as well. Influenced by her father, who she has looked up to all these years, but she also loved Selena and knew the stage is where she belonged. She says her career was inevitable. Her instinctive understanding of rhythm, passion for performing and her willingness to take creative risks is what has led her down a musical path of artistry.

Knowing that music has no boundaries has fed her artistic growth and inspired her voice to become a vehicle of diverse expression. Possessing an ability to completely captivate audiences with her stage presence has made her a unique female performer. Ernestine Romero continues to expand and diversify her music and style, and at the same time staying true to her New Mexico roots; she not only continues to show how her evolution can be a great commodity when it comes to creating new ways to reach people, but also a sign of more things to come.

“La Indecorosa” is available now for digital download at iTunes, Amazon, CDbaby and www.ernestineromero.com.
