Los Chamacos released an official statement on Sunday about the breakup with former frontman Jaime DeAnda. The group parted ways in December.

The four remaining members of the band have decided to “continue as Los Chamacos without Jaime,” according to the statement.

“Several attempts were made to come to an agreement to keep the band together, but nothing was resolved,” says the statement. “Jaime chose to pursue a ‘solo’ career without Los Chamacos. With that being said, it is time for us as a band to continue our passion and commitment to making music for you, the fans.”

Los Chamacos, which include current members Roel Joslin, Edward “Chato” Ordonez, Ruben Mendoza, and Gilbert Fierros Jr, have been fulfilling performance contracts since the breakup with guest vocalists and accordionists.

“We would like to thank Albert Canales (Un Nuevo Oro) and David Gonzalez (El Trono) for filling in while this matter was being resolved,” according to the statement.

The statement also cleared up the confusion on the use of Los Chamacos name and music.

“In December 2015, Roel acquired ‘Jaime Y Los Chamacos’ from Jaime,” according to the statement. “Since then, Roel (JYLC) legally holds all rights that are associated with this entity.”

Jaime Y Los Chamacos have been entertaining fans with their high-energy, signature sound since 1982 and released many successful albums and classic hits including “Yolanda,” “Mi Musica Favorita,” and many more. The band has received multiple Grammy and Latin Grammy nominations and was inducted into the Tejano R.O.O.T.S. Hall of Fame in 2011.

“We would like to thank Jaime for all the years we shared the stage together,” said the statement. “The memories will never be forgotten.”

Marisela premieres the official music video for “Me Esta Gustando” on Tuesday with Tejano Nation.

“Me Esta Gustando” was written by the legendary songwriter Humberto (Beto) Ramon, known for penning many songs for legendary group Mazz. The song was produced by the internationally famous music producer, Hugo Guerrero, producer of many hits and well known for the hit “La Charanga”.

The music video features Marisela belting out the song at Nightmare Audio Productions studios and filmed and produced by Lupe Moya owner of LM Media Solutions.

Marisela always had a love and passion for music since many of her family members are or have been musicians. She discovered her musical talent at the age of 23 in 1995. After singing in a few backyard BBQs, she joined a karaoke singing contest at a local restaurant belting out a Selena song winning the 1st place prize, a family meal for four.

Her aunt encouraged the McAllen, Texas native to enter the casting call for the Selena movie in San Antonio. She auditioned along with over 2000 other young females. She was called back for a second audition in front of the movie’s producers. (there were 16 call-backs) A few weeks later, she received a call from the producers to notify her that Abraham Quintanilla, Selena’s father, had decided to go with a professional actress from Hollywood.

She began working as a radio personality in 1999 in the Rio Grande Valley, where she received an invitation to sing with Jimmy Gonzalez Y Grupo Mazz. She toured with Grupo Mazz for a couple of years as the backup singer in 2001. Singing with this band had been her first professional singing job and allowed her to experience singing in front of huge audiences.

Juan Treviño is the man behind many of today’s top Tejano hits. He has written songs for some of Tejano’s biggest stars, including Elida Y Avante, David Lee Garza Y Los Musicales, Jay Perez, Siggno and many more.

The Latin Grammy winner, whose latest single, “Quiero Que Seas Mia”, is currently topping many Tejano radio playlists, shared his opinion on the current sound of today’s Tejano music.

“Today’s Tejano for me is what people, when it came out in the beginning, used to call it Norteño light,” Treviño told Tejano Concerts TV. “I think it evolved that way and it was evolving when they (radio stations) started playing Intenso, Duelo, Solido, and they consider those bands Tejano and that’s really Norteño light.”

Tejano music has always been evolving as the next generation of artists add their own style into the music.

“It’s the new Tejano like the new Country that’s out now,” he added. “It’s the new trend. Nothing wrong with change, I think people got to accept it so it can move on and keep on evolving more.”

Treviño also spoke about his latest projects and much more. Watch the full interview with Juan Treviño on the latest episode of Tejano Concerts TV below.
