Sunny Sauceda has decided to have surgery in May to repair a torn meniscus after he injured his right knee during a recent performance on March 17.

Sauceda, who always performs high-energy shows for his fans, said he suffered the injury near the beginning of his Univision Fan Fair performance.

“It’s two minutes into my KXTN performance,” Sauceda told Tejano Nation. “When I did my first knee drop, that’s when I felt it. I dropped, then when I leaned back I felt a pop. Got up, my knee was wobbly and I felt weak, pain, but I had to push through. So, I played the whole show with all my weight on my left leg. No one could tell, I played it off.”

The singer and accordionist finished the full show that night and also performed the following night at the Tejano Music Awards Fan Fair.

“That’s what separates the men from the boys, the show must go on,” he said.

The two-time Grammy winner was diagnosed by his doctor with a torn meniscus in his right knee.

“It’s a common injury,” he said. “Mine is kinda extreme, it is a bucket handle tear, so it’s intense.”

Sauceda still plans to perform as scheduled for Fiesta De La Flor, the two-day music festival that honors Selena in her hometown of Corpus Christi, Texas, on Friday, April 13. His other scheduled April performances include Tumbleweeds nigh club in Houston, the Galveston Rodeo and Fiesta San Antonio.

“I’m gonna tough it out and play thru the injury,” he said.

The Tejano ROOTS Hall of Famer also plans to release the official music video for his latest hit “Que Te Vaya Bien” on April 3.

The black and white cup with a black lid features a close-up of Selena’s face with her logo in red and her signature white rose. Sunny Sauceda Y Todo Eso premiered the official music video for their latest hit single, “Que Te Vaya Bien,” on April 3.

The video grabs your attention with sharp visuals wrapped in a beautiful Texas landscape.

“The video is kind of a serious video,” Sauceda told Tejano Nation. “We usually have videos that are kind of laid back, kick back. On this one, I kind of wanted to change it up, change the tone, because of the marketability the song had.”

The amazing track takes you back with life’s story of true love torn, while always wanting the best. Visions of relationships passion and struggles, “Que Te Vaya Bien.” It features reverb filled accordion, electric and acoustic guitar, driving bass, passionate percussion with keys touched in just the right places.

“It’s a sound that I have been tweaking with, or messing with, years ago,” added Sauceda. “But, I never got around to releasing anything with this sound, which is something new for us. We’re excited about it. It’s a love song, it’s a catchy melody and I think people are going to enjoy it.”

It didn’t take long for the Stripes convenience stores to sell out of commemorative collectible cups honoring the late Tejano singer Selena.

The cups went on sale at 9 a.m. Saturday, with fans lining up to get one before they sold out.

A short time after they went on sale, Stripes posted on Facebook that they had already sold out. Each cup was $2.99 and a portion of the proceeds went to the Selena Foundation.

Of course, it didn’t take long for the cups to show up on eBay with people selling them on the site, where sellers were asking for hundreds of dollars for each of the sold-out cups.

Stripes worked with Selena’s sister, Suzette Quintanilla, to create the two designs featuring the Tejano superstar.

“I am excited to work with Stripes again on these beautiful commemorative cups of my sister featuring Selena’s image. One of the  designs this year is a watercolor painting created by New York artist  Santi Siguenza, and it’s also our official logo for the 2018 Fiesta De La Flor event,” said Suzette Quintanilla, CEO of Q-Productions.

There’s a black and white cup with a black lid featuring a close-up of Selena’s face with her logo in red and her signature white rose.

The other one is described as a watercolor cup, which according to Stripes, is a commissioned art piece designed by New York artist San Sigü Enza and was created especially for the 2018 Fiesta de la Flor event, the two-day music festival that honors Selena.

If you missed out on your chance, you can still get one of the cups at the Fiesta de la Flor festival on April 13 and 14 in Corpus Christi.

Latin Grammy winner Juan Treviño released his latest single, “Quiero Que Seas Mía,” on Friday (April 13).

After Treviño’s debut single, “Siempre Es Asi” featuring AJ Castillo garnered him a Latin Grammy for Best Regional Mexican Song in 2017, the talented singer and songwriter has returned with a slow, romantic cumbia and the lead single from his upcoming sophomore album.

“The song talks about a couple that is in love,” Treviño told Tejano Nation about his latest release. “It’s a seductive song. It’s a little different from what I normally sing, but I’ve written songs like this for other artists.”

Treviño has composed some of the biggest hits in Tejano music for over 10 years. He has written hit songs for Los Palominos (Me Enamore De Un Angel), La Mafia (Amor Y Sexo), Vizzio (Para Demostrarte), Siggno (Te Acostumbraste A Estar Sin Mi), Grupo Solido (Soy Libre), David Lee Garza y Los Musicales (El Privilegio) Jay Perez (Un Amigo Tendras), Elida Reyna Y Avante and Solido (Atrevete Amarme), to name just a few.

Treviño added that he stepped out of his comfort zone for his latest single, “I’ve never sang something like this before and I was really happy with the outcome when I was recording it. We liked it so much, we decided to release it as the first single.”

“Quiero Que Seas Mía” is available now at all digital music platforms.
