Albert Zamora’s ‘A Living Legacy’ cover art revealed

Freddie Records gave fans a first look of the cover art for A Living Legacy, the long-awaited new album from Albert Zamoraon Wednesday (April 26).

The cover art was posted on the legendary record label’s official Facebook page.

The album is scheduled for release worldwide on May 29 and will contain 13 brand new tracks, including the lead single and party anthem, “Cervezas Al Aire.”

A Living Legacy will be available for pre-order soon at FreddieStore.com.

Selena wins Top Latin Albums Female Artist of the Year at 2017 Billboard Latin Music Awards

Jennifer Lopez, who portrayed Selena in the 1995 biopic about the late singer, won two awards at the 2017 Billboard Latin Music Awards on Thursday, April 27, 2017.

Over 20 years after her death, Selena is still winning awards as the late Latin music icon won Top Latin Albums Artist of the Year, Female for the second straight year at the 2017 Billboard Latin Music Awards.

The annual awards show that highlights the the top selling and streaming Latin hits and albums of the year took place in Miami, Florida on Thursday night (April 27).

Selena’s brother A.B. Quintanilla took to social media to thank fans for always supporting Selena.

“I thought I’d take a little of my time and thank you guys personally for all the love, all the support, just letting her be a part of your life and letting us be a part of your life, we really appreciate it,” A.B. said in the video posted on his Facebook page.

Jennifer Lopez, who portrayed Selena in the 1995 biopic, won two awards including Premio de la Estrella Award (Telemundo’s Star Award) and Best Social Media. Lopez also performed her new Spanish-language single “Miraté” from her upcoming album, scheduled for release later this year.

The late Juan Gabriel, who passed away unexpectedly last year, won the coveted artist of the year award as well as top Latin albums artist of the year, male and Latin pop albums artist of the year, solo. Juan Gabriel’s album Los Dúo 2 won top Latin album of the year as the top-selling release and Latin pop album of the year.

Isabel Marie drops ‘Porque Tu No Estas’ from upcoming sophomore album [AUDIO]

Young singing sensation Isabel Marie released the second single, “Porque Tu No Estas,” from her upcoming album on Friday (April 28).

The latest single from the 14-year-old singer was produced by Abraham Quintanilla and written by Juan Manuel Gonzalez for Isabel Marie’s still untitled sophomore disc.

“Porque Tu No Estas” is the follow-up to the lead single from the album, “Dreaming Of You,” a cover of the 1995 posthumous hit from Selena, and is available at all major digital platforms now.

Isabel Marie released her successful debut album, New Girl In Town, in March 2016 and featured many hit songs, including “Fallaste Corazon”, “Pero Como Voy a Olvidar” and “Un Beso”.

Isabel Marie released the official music video for her latest single, “Porque Tu No Estas,” just hours after release of the song.

The visual for the second single released from the 14-year-old singer’s sophomore album Sígueme, features Isabel Marie in locations throughout Corpus Christi, Texas.  The video was filmed and edited by Gilbert Aguirre from Dept. 13 Films.

“Porque Tu No Estas” was produced by Abraham Quintanilla for Q Productions and written by Juan Manuel Gonzalez, and is available now on all digital platforms.

Ernestine Romero talked about her latest single, “La Indecorosa,” upcoming album and more with Tejano Nation Radio.

Romero, the nominee for Female Vocalist of the Year at the 2016 Tejano Music Awards, told Tejano Nation Radio host Romeo about her latest single, produced by Grammy Award winner Hugo Guerrero, a.k.a. The Charanga King.

The singer from Santa Fe, New Mexico, who has won over 30 New Mexico Hispano Music Awards, also talked about the growing Tejano music scene in the “Land Of Enchantment.”

The interview originally aired on Tejano Nation Radio affiliate Q99.5 on April 29, as Romero was heading towards her show in San Angelo that night.

Two-time Latin Grammy winner Michael Salgado talked about his latest music, over 20 years in the music business and much more with Tejano Nation at a recent show in Tucson, Arizona.

Salgado chatted with Tejano Nation television host Fanny Gurl backstage of the Tejano Shootout at Casino Del Sol’s AVA Amphitheater in Tuscon, Arizona on April 22.

Salgado mentioned an upcoming single from his soon to be released new album, he also talked about his musical influences and gave advice for new talent bursting on the scene, like his son Andres Salgado.

Michael Salgado to be honored with proclamation at Texas Capitol on May 2

The achievements and accolades have been plenty for Michael Salgado over his 21 year music career and he’ll add another at the Texas State Capitol in Austin on Tuesday, May 2.

The singer and musician is proud of his Mexican roots growing up in the west Texas town of Big Spring.  Salgado, who now lives in San Antonio, has been one of the leading representatives and promoters of Texas music around the world and has dedicated himself to charitable causes by getting involved to serve the community.

The Texas House of Representatives will honor Salgado for his career and successes in the music industry, as well as his charitable contributions, when Texas State Senator Eddie Lucio Jr, of District 27, and District 38 representative Eddie Lucio III, come together to give Salagado the highest recognition that the State of Texas can give to a citizen, with a Resolution for life merits and a Proclamation highlighting his civic contribution.

The two-time Latin Grammy winner has received dozens of awards, honors and recognition, both from the community and from the government, but without a doubt May 2 will be a memorable day for the singer.

Crystal Torres adds signature sound to ‘Adiós Amor’ remake [AUDIO]

Crystal Torres adds her own signature sound to “Adiós Amor,” a remake of the hit song and debut single from Mexican singer Christian Nodal, released earlier this year.

The sensual bolero will be a part of Torres’ upcoming untitled sophomore album and is a fusion of Tejano, Mariachi and Latin Pop, produced by 14-time Grammy Award winner Gilbert Velasquez.

“He’s awesome,” Torres told Tejano Nation in a recent interview about working with Velasquez. “He’s tough, because he knows what he wants in the studio. He’s a perfectionist and he puts out quality work and I’m very excited to be able to work with somebody of his caliber.”

Torres won Best New Female Artist at the 2014 Tejano Music Awards.

Albuquerque City Council renames venue in honor of Al Hurricane

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – The Godfather of New Mexico music, Al Hurricane, was honored at city council Monday night.

Councilors voted to rename the Civic Plaza Pavilion in honor of the musician.

Despite a long battle with cancer, Al Hurricane made it out Monday night to speak about his special honor.

“I don’t know how much longer I will be around, but I love the city of Albuquerque, and the state of New Mexico. We pushed our music into Spain, Argentina, Mexico, and they accepted us, but this is a big honor,” he said.

A dedication and tribute concert is scheduled for Sunday at Civic Plaza. That concert will feature various local performers, including Al Hurricane’s sons and brothers.

Michael Salgado recognized for contributions to music and charities by Texas legislature

Michael Salgado was recognized for his contributions to the music industry and charitable organizations with a proclamation and resolution at the Texas State Capitol on May 2.

Texas State Representative Eddie Lucio III, of District 38, filed and passed House Resolution 1366 honoring Salgado for his success and charitable efforts through his organization, the Para Mi Gente Foundation.

“Mr. Salgado is not only a gifted performer, but a passionate philanthropist,” Rep. Lucio said in a press release. “Over the years, Mr. Salgado has demonstrated a high level of dedication to his community.”

Salgado’s Para Mi Gente Foundation benefits the community through efforts with the Children’s Shelter of San Antonio, St. Jude Children’s Hospital and the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

For over two decades, Salgado had great success with several hit singles and Billboard Magazine’s Latin Top Ten hits like “Cruz de Madera”, “Sin Ella”, and “Ya No Voy Aguantar”. Among many other awards and accolades, he also received the 2007 Latin Grammy for Best Norteño Album, 2012 Billboard Latin Music Award for Best Regional Mexican Album, and 2016 Latin Grammy for Best Tejano Album.

Legendary broadcaster Rogelio Botello Rios passed away due to complications during surgery on Wednesday, according to sources.

For nearly four decades, Botello Rios promoted the careers of many music stars on his popular television show, “Aqui Rogelio”, and became a broadcast legend in the Rio Grande Valley.

Botello Rios, who was inducted into the Texas Conjunto Hall of Fame in 2011, launched his broadcast career as an announcer on KGBT radio and hosted his variety television show for 38 years, turning many musicians into stars.

This is still a developing story, Tejano Nation will have more details as they become available.

Solido drops action-packed ‘Bailamos’ music video

Solido released an action-packed mini-movie as the official video for their latest hit “Bailamos” on Wednesday (May 3).

“Bailamos” is the second single released from the two-time Latin Grammy winning band’s ninth studio album, No Me Vuelvas A Besar Asi, released in November from Freddie Records.

“This is one of my favorite songs and it looks like it’s a fan favorite also, it’s already getting strong airplay, it’s the most requested during our shows,” Solido’s Ben De León told Tejano Nation.

The great visual for the single, written by Juan Treviño, is a mini-movie that features characters, action-packed fight scenes and more.  The video was directed by Estevan Gonzalez, De León and Rolo Benavidez. It was produced by Gonzalez and Ric Casanova from NX LVL Media.

“We wanted to do a different video and I think we did,” De León added. “We had so much fun during shooting. It was so cool that all the guys had a small acting part and to see it all come together.”

News of the passing of legendary broadcaster Rogelio Botello Rios has hit La Onda Tejana hard. Many stars took to their social media accounts to remember the Hall of Fame radio broadcaster and television host.

Botello Rios, who was inducted into the Texas Conjunto Hall of Fame in 2011, passed away due to complications during surgery on Wednesday, according to sources. He was 75.

For nearly four decades, he promoted the careers of many music stars on his popular television show, “Aqui Rogelio”, and became a broadcast legend in the Rio Grande Valley.

It’s clear from the outpouring of emotion that the legacy of Botello Rios, both on and off air, will live on for years to come:

Ray Ray de Los Agues released the title track from his upcoming sophomore album Gozala on Thursday.

The original track was co-written by Ray Ray and his brother Jesse Garcia and produced by four-time Grammy award winning hitmaker Mario Ortiz at Baby Grand Records studios in San Antonio, Texas.

“Gozala” will be available soon on all digital platforms and Ray Ray’s sophomore album, the follow-up to his solo debut album No Se Como Fue, will be released this summer.

Tejano legend Jessy Serrata set for surgery after cancer diagnosis

Tejano music legend Jessy Serrata will have surgery next week after recently receiving a diagnosis of kidney cancer. 

“Surgery to remove his right kidney was delayed due to concerns with his heart,” according to sources close to the family.  “Moments ago, the surgeon came in to perform pre-surgery tests and announced that his heart is now strong enough for the surgery and the procedure is scheduled to take place early next week.”

The 63-year-old singer was admitted into the hospital on April 24, where tests confirmed that Serrata has stage 3 kidney cancer.

Serrata, also known as “Mr. Iron Throat,” has appeared on over 17 albums and was nominated for a Latin Grammy in 2004 for his album Better Than Ever.

Hobbs also talked about his second annual Tejano cruise set for this fall with his famous friends in Tejano music, including Roberto Pulido, Cacy Savala, David Lee Garza and more.
