Disney Media Distribution will co-produce series based on ‘Selena’s Secret’

BTM Media, Moconoco and LatinWE, announced the production of a new series based on the events of the tragic death of Selena Quintanilla, the most influential and best-selling Latin artist of the 1990s.

The 13 episode series, is based on the best selling book Selena’s Secret, written by Emmy award winning journalist Maria Celeste, who had exclusive access to the protagonists of history, and led for many years extensive research on the circumstances surrounding Selena’s murder.

“Selena’s Secret is the revealing story behind its tragic history,” commented Maria Celeste. “It is a very different story to the official version that was told immediately after her murder. It turns out that, in the months leading up to her death, Selena was not as happy as many thought. She was experiencing a tumultuous moment because she was surrounded by people who loved her, but who also wanted to manipulate her. Selena’s Secret is a production of DMD-LA, Moconoco, LatinWE and BTF Media, the latter also being the production company of the series that will premiere on TNT in Latin America and TV Azteca in Mexico.

I have no doubt that, just as the book became a bestseller, the production of this series will break audience records. ”
