South TX Homies premiered the official music video for the Latin Grammy-nominated group’s latest single “Te Vas Ángel Mío” on Oct. 30.

The mariachi-infused tune is a cover of the classic song written by Marco Antonio Velasco and recorded by many artists including Cornelio Reyna, Ramon Ayala, Michael Salgado, La Mafia, and The Hometown Boys, just to name a few.

The song and video is “dedicated in memory of our loved ones, especially during the pandemic,” the group said on it’s official Facebook page.

“COVID has kind of hit a lot people pretty hard,” South TX Homies accordionist Anthony Treviño tells Tejano Nation. “People have been dealing with a lot of losses and we just fell this song we wanted to put out and we kind of did our own rendition of it. It’s very beautiful song.”

The group burst on the music scene earlier this year with the release of their debut album, It’s Time, receiving a nomination for Best Tejano Album at the 21st Latin GRAMMY Awards scheduled for later this month. South TX Homies are currently working on their sophomore album with an expected release date in early 2021.
