“If you like Conjunto music, this song is sure to make u dance,” Fuentes told Tejano Nation about his latest release. “This is a song recorded by Los Dos Gilbertos many years ago that I’ve always loved. I always said to myself, I’m going to record this song one day.”

The track is produced by Fuentes and is a remixed version of the classic Conjunto hit from legendary band Los Dos Gilbertos.

“The story line is interesting: ‘every time I pass her house, she comes out and stares at me’…problem is she’s a Mujer Casada (married woman),” Fuentes laughed. “At the end of the song he’s on his way to take her. It’s just a fun dancing song.”

“Ay Mi Madre” is the follow-up to the band’s debut single “Mi Morenita” released in January from the their self-titled debut album available at all digital platforms including the Tejano Nation Amazon store.

Los Amigos ASG

Los Amigos ASG released their first official single of 2017 with the upbeat cumbia “Luna Dile,” a cover of the hit “Muriendo De Amor” from Peruvian band Corazón Serrano.

“I decided to reproduce this song in our own way,” Los Amigos ASG member and producer Phillip Garcia told Tejano Nation. “This is an upbeat, get up and dance kinda song, but with a small story in the lyrical content at the same time.”

The band from Cuero, Texas, have decided to go back to their original sound after experimenting with their last album Next Level, released in February 2016.

“We have decided to go back to who we are in this single, and our upcoming singles to come,” Garcia said. “On our last album we tried mellowing our sound down for certain radio programs, just to give it a try. The album was a great piece of art from head to toe, but I think our fans wanted our dancing music style back. We as artist can’t please everyone, but we will make sure to please our fans first.”

Even though Los Amigos ASG are known for their cumbia hits, Garcia says the band has a versatile style.

“Some people call us a Cumbia band, but we’re not,” said Garcia. “Please consider us your Tejano variety kinda band, because our next single will be an original Tejano Ranchera. We’ll keep them coming and keep on dancing Raza.”

“Luna Dile” is expected to fulfill the vibe for your summer outings and will be available at all digital platforms on June 14.

Two members of Los Aguilares, Genaro Aguilar and Emilio Aguilar, along with Jessy Serrata, Tomas Vasquez and Rick Garcia were inducted into the Texas Conjunto Hall of Fame on Saturday in San Benito, Texas.

The five pioneers are the 2017 class of inductees for the 16th annual Texas Conjunto Music Inductions Awards Ceremony that took place at the Knights of Columbus Hall.

For over five decades, Los Aguilares have been playing conjunto music, and original member Genaro is continuing the music after the December 2009 passing of co-founder and brother Emilio at the age of 70.

Serrata, also known as “Mr. Iron Throat,” has appeared on over 17 albums and was nominated for a Latin Grammy in 2004 for his album Better Than Ever. The 63-year-old singer was unable to attend the ceremony because of illness. His friend Agustin Gomez accepted the honor in his place.

Record executive Garcia, the executive vice president of Hacienda Records in Corpus Christi, has promoted others in their recording careers since the early 1970s.

Vasquez, the 81-year-old last surviving member of Freddie Gomez y Los Dinamicos, is still filled with memories of playing for American soldiers on their way to Vietnam in the 1960s.

With the addition of these five new inductees, the number of Conjunto Hall of Famers now totals 80. A new museum building, scheduled to open in August 2017, certainly will add more conjunto stars for many years to come.

Ray Ray De Los Agues released the official music video for his latest single “Gozala” on Monday (June 19).

This visual for the original cumbia written by Ray Ray and his brother Jesse Garcia , with production by Mario Ortiz at Baby Grand Records, features Ray Ray singing the catchy hook with a couple of ladies dancing to the beat.  The Ryan Bazan produced music video looks more like a tequila commercial at times than a music video, because of its sponsorship with Diva Tequila and Route 66 Tequila.

Ray Ray recently signed with Illustra Records and Distribution, a company who will be manufacturing and distributing his sophomore album worldwide. His sophomore album was originally scheduled for release at the end of July, but with the new partnership, it may take a little longer.

“We are hoping to release it in August 2017.,” said Erica Garcia, Ray Ray’s wife and manager. “He has a surprise country song called ‘Pictures’ that we will be debut when the album is released.”
