Michael Salgado has been ordered to rest by his doctor after collapsing during a performance in Carlsbad, New Mexico on Saturday night (August 26).
The two-time Latin Grammy winner was nearing the end of his performance at the San Jose Catholic Church Family Affair when he lost his balance and fell, according to an eyewitness.
Salgado’s record label issued a statement on Sunday that he had suffered an episode of vertigo in early August and also received surgery on his vocal cords on August 8. He had been approved by doctors to return to the stage this weekend.
“El Zurdo De Oro” is back home in San Antonio, Texas and will undergo further tests with his doctor.
“As you know vertigo is delicate, but can be controlled with appropriate medication,” according to the statement. “At the moment the doctor has recommended rest for the next few days. Any additional information we will let you know.”
Salgado is expected to give more updates via his social networks soon.
