CORPUS CHRISTI, TX — If you are a fan of Selena, the Queen of Tejano music, you won’t want to miss this amazing event coming to Whataburger Field on November 11th. The Corpus Christi Hooks and Corpus Christi Symphony Orchestra have teamed up to present the Symphonic Music of Selena, a spectacular tribute concert featuring some of the best local talent and a 60-piece orchestra.

The concert will be led by Dr. Abel Ramirez, a Professor of Music at Del Mar College and a renowned expert on Selena’s music. He will conduct the CCSO and accompany Isabel Marie Sánchez, a rising star who has won several awards for her vocal performance and interpretation of Selena’s songs. Together, they will perform some of Selena’s most iconic hits, such as “Como la Flor”, “Bidi Bidi Bom Bom”, “Dreaming of You” and more, performed with a symphonic twist that will make you feel the emotion and passion of her music.

“The Corpus Christi Symphony is very excited to bring the Symphonic Music of Selena to the community and once again partner with the Hooks at Whataburger Field,” said CCSO Executive Director Robin Nutter. “This tribute allows us an opportunity to commemorate Veterans Day and honor our service men and women with an array of community performers which will make this a one-of-a-kind musical celebration for the Coastal Bend.”

The concert will also feature a variety of musical acts that showcase the diversity and richness of Corpus Christi’s culture and history. You will enjoy the sounds of The Veterans Band of Corpus Christi, Flour Bluff High School Junior ROTC, Tuloso-Midway High School Mariachi Band, Corpus Christi ISD Youth Chorus, Texas A&M University-Kingsville Jazz Ensemble, Corpus Christi Veterans High School Vocal Ensemble/Poppies and the Kingdom of Christ Community Singers. It will be a night full of music, joy, and nostalgia for Selena and her legacy.

This event is made possible by the generous support of the Port of Corpus Christi and other sponsors, such as the City of Corpus Christi, Tres Grace Foundation, Puente de Maravillas, John G. and Marie Stella Kenedy Memorial Foundation, and PNC Bank.

“The Hooks are thrilled to team with the Corpus Christi Symphony Orchestra for this unique musical event,” said Brady Ballard, Hooks General Manager. “Partnering with CCSO to once again showcase Whataburger Field to the community highlighted by the music of Selena makes this a truly special experience.”
