Tejano newcomer Randy Nav will release his debut EP this year with San Antonio-based record label Baby Grand Records.
The West Texas native, military veteran, and former football athlete shared the EP will be produced by Baby Grand Records owner Mario Ortiz Jr, including songs written by himself and award-winning composer Jesse Villarreal, featuring more guest artists, including Luis AG.
Randy Nav’s debut single, “La Ultima Mentira,” was co-written by himself and Villarreal, produced by Mario O, and features Luis AG on vocals. The single was nominated for Collaboration of the Year and Song of the Year-Progressive in the Premio’s Tejano Mundial Awards in the first round of fan voting.
“I try to reach people by writing about real-life scenarios or feelings,” Randy Nav tells Tejano Nation. “This song speaks of a past broken relationship where the truth is always one-sided but in reality, only those two people within the relationship know the truth and learning from that experience and moving on the best way you can.”
The song embodies both traditional Tejano sounds with brass and can be found at BabyGrandRecords.com.
Randy added, “I hope to embody all the classic Tejano sounds by bringing it back to the way it was in the ’90s, and having influences with classic rock and R&B. The next single “Olvidalo” will be releasing next month.”
