Los Garcia Brothers had to reschedule shows this weekend after one member suffered side effects from a second dose of the COVID-19 vaccination, according to the band.

The Tejano ROOTS Hall of Fame band shared the announcement via social media on Saturday afternoon. “Due to 2nd dose vaccination side effects, Joey Garcia couldn’t continue the 2nd set last night,” said the Facebook post. “He’s okay just resting up right now. We will be rescheduling Austin, TX & Tonight’s gig in La Porte, TX. Sorry for the inconvenience & fans that had bought tickets already, we will be back for sure to make it up.”

Los Garcia Brothers were scheduled to perform at O.K. Corral in Ausin on Friday night and Texas Snowbirds Daquiri and Grill in La Porte on Saturday.

In April 2019, Joey Garcia passed out on stage after elevated high blood pressure and shortness of breath. He was taken to a Corpus Christi hospital as a precaution and was released after evaluation. The Conjunto star had surgery in 2014 that damaged his throat and sometimes blocks his airway and caused the blackout.

Los Garcia Brothers are known for their “Pachuco” style and rhythmic Conjunto sound. The group has released many successful albums since 1990, including hit songs “Dos Carnales,” “El Pachuco” and “El Cometa”.
