Joe Bravo returned home on Wednesday after the Tejano music legend spent several days in the hospital for a recurring health issue.

Bravo updated fans via a social media video showing the singer at home. “Thank you for all my well wishes, I feel great,” he said. “Just knowing that I have friends like you, family like you. Thank you so much. I love y’all. I’m home…I finally home.”

The 78-year-old Latin Grammy winner spent six days in an Austin hospital for kidney issues, according to a video posted to social media from his hospital bed. “I went through a period of having problems with my kidneys,” he said. “I’ve been seeing a kidney doctor pero (but) slowly but surely it caught up to me…I had been having problems…I couldn’t stand on my feet, my feet were killing me.”

Bravo added that he is back on the road to recovery. “Everything is starting to look good,” he said. “I’m going to see my kidney doctor, I’m gonna go to physical therapy…everything will be back to normal.”

The crooner received multiple heart bypass surgery in March 2018 and recovered well enough to record a project with The Legends of Freddie Records (Freddie MartinezAugustin RamirezSunny Ozuna, and Carlos Guzman) at the famed Legends Sound Studios in Corpus Christi later that year in September.

The Tejano Music Hall of Fame singer has been entertaining fans for over 50 years and is considered one of the pioneers of Tejano music. Among some of Bravo’s biggest hits include the beautiful ranchera “Que Casualidad”, as well as “La Patita de Conejo”, “Irma Linda”, and “It’s OK”. His most recent single was “Dolores,” produced by Grammy Award winner Hugo Guerrero and the comeback track featured an all-star team of musicians, including Frankie Caballero on the accordion with Al Gomez on trumpet.
