Stevie D releases ‘Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas’ for your holiday playlist

Stevie D is ready to make your holidays a little brighter with his new rendition of a Christmas classic, “Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas.”

The award-winning singer tells Tejano Nation that after he finished recording his debut album for Freddie Records, Freddie Martinez asked him to record a holiday song. “It came out amazing, we’re really pleased with the outcome,” said Stevie D. “It’s a classic, originally he had asked us to do an original and I was against it because, you know, it’s Christmas. People want to sing Christmas carols. Traditional Christmas carols are what I was brought up with and I’m not trying to compete with the people who wrote those traditional classics and I’d like to keep it like that.”

The song, which is Stevie D’s first-ever Christmas recording, was produced by Brando Mireles, Jr., formerly of Grupo Mazz, and features a simple, elegant arrangement performed by members of Stevie D’s All-Star Cast including Mireles on piano, guitarist Jay Alaniz, and vocals from Stevie D.

Stevie D added why he chose this Christmas classic to record. “It was just a matter of what Brando, Jay, and myself felt was the best one,” he said. “We all agreed to it and we just chose it. It just sounded prettier, we had that little bit of R&B and a little bit of the blues type of flavor in this one. I felt like it was meant to be.”
