Prominent Midwest Tejano promoter and manager Mark Garcia passed away on Thursday (May 14) after a two year battle with cancer.
Well known in the Midwest area for his involvement within the Tejano and Conjunto community, Garcia was a native of southwest Detroit, Michigan, and a diehard Michigan Wolverine fan.
His effort to invest in the Tejano and Conjunto community consistently showed his love and passion for the culture, both as a mega-fan and as a leader.
Throughout the years, Garcia’s continuous dedication afforded him the opportunity to connect with many major artists giving the Midwest an opportunity to attend live concerts and experience fun-filled events with their favorite Artists.
He and good friend Mike Avina formed M&M Productions which was host to many events for over a decade. Fans from all over the Midwest would travel to Toledo, Ohio during Memorial Day and Labor Day weekends to experience live entertainment from many local bands and major artists from Texas, including Los Desperadoz, Ram Herrera, Roberto Pulido, The Hometown Boys, Joe Posada, David Marez, Chente Barrera, just some of the great talent M&M Productions hosted in the Midwest.
Garcia and his wife, Nady, purchased TejanoFM.com, an internet station that quickly became recognized as a fan favorite. The station operated 24 hours and seven days a week with several local DJs volunteering their time to give fans an opportunity to hear their favorite artist.
Garcia continued his dedication to becoming part of Tejano Sound Band (TSB). After discussions with bandleader Johnny Vasquez, Garcia became TSB’s manager. With Garcia at the helm, TSB went on to record three albums that were recognized throughout the United States and Mexico. TSB went on to earn several nominations and awards throughout the years including winning a TTMA award in 2014 for Vocal Duo of the Year.
Above all his accomplishments, Garcia’s love for God and his family shined. His legacy will continue through his wife (Nady), children (AJ Garcia, Eli Garcia, Rosemarie Garcia, Rick Palomin, and Amber Palomin) and grandchildren. Mark finished his race and he won!
