Radio personality Aura Vidal has joined Tejano Nation as a contributing writer to cover Conjunto music and events.
Aura is currently an internet radio personality on Tejano Tucson Radio in Tucson, Arizona, hosting the “Double Trouble Show” on Monday nights at 7:30 pm MST, as well as the “Conjunto Hour” on Tuesday nights at 7:30 p.m. MST.
“Aura is a great addition to the Tejano Nation team,” said John Henry Medina, Tejano Nation’s Digital Managing Editor. “Her passion for the Tejano and Conjunto music scene has made her a favorite of not only the artists, but the music community as well.”
The Hermosillo, Sonora, Mexico native was raised in Tucson, Arizona and grew up around musicians in her family. Aura’s great grandfather played the accordion, her great aunt Amparo Ochoa, was a recording artist of Mexican folklore music, and her father performed in a Latin-American folklore group.
Aura has played several instruments such as the vihuela and the violin with Mariachi Los Changuitos Feos for several years until she was offered to play professionally and recorded with Mariachi Tapatio, now performing with Mariachi Patron in Tucson, Arizona.
Pursuing her love for music she has involved herself in the Tejano and Conjunto music scene, which took her to perform in San Antonio, Texas at the Tejano Music Awards Fan Fair in 2017.
She is a person of many talents, hosting the annual Bisbee Mariachi Festival, stage director and emcee for the 80th Annual Tohono O’odham Rodeo and Fair, and Just recently co-emcee at the 2018 South Texas Conjunto Awards.
Aura is also involved with the fashion and modeling scene in Tucson as Director of Event, and mentor. She also works with Southern Arizona Video Productions as a videographer.
Her air accordion skills and her passion to promote musicians on her “Conjunto Hour” has gained a large following within the Conjunto community.
