“Jimmy Gonzalez cancelled out on us tonight because he got a little sick….The doctor said bed rest, so he’s going to take some bed rest.”
Gonzalez performed in Corpus Christi the night before, and concert-goers had noticed the band didn’t start the performance until late, around 12:40 a.m., including Conjunto legend Linda Escobar, who had attended the concert.
“I’m really sorry that Jimmy G. didn’t play earlier at Club Rio last night,” Escobar posted on her Facebook page. “He was not feeling well. And I hope he goes to the doctor and gets better. I left at 12:30 a.m. but he did get on stage at 12:40, bless his heart! I’m sad I didn’t get to hear him play because I DO love his music, even if it’s not Conjunto.”
